I Love My Submariner
|
I love my submariner. He is my son that I held as a baby. He is my son that I kissed away hurts, drove to baseball practice, and to the bus headed for Great Lakes. He is my son who ALWAYS calls his mother. You can rest easy tonight for somewhere in the deep ocean my son is protecting your freedom. I love my submariner. He is the man that put gold on my finger and an ID card in my purse. He is my best friend, my partner in life. He is in my dreams, and I in his. He kisses me awake and goodnight even when we are thousands of miles apart. He is the man that stands where God puts him and puts his family first, by way of protecting our country so that we might live free. I love my submariner. He is the first man I ever knew. He is the daddy that I love and the father that I respect. He is the papa that I miss when he is at sea. He is the man that picks me up and snuggles with me even though he is weary from, the “submaween”. He is the daddy that I want to be just like when I grow up. I love my submariner. He is my next-door neighbor. He is the man that helped me change my tire last week on the freeway. He was the boy that hit a baseball through my window. He is the perfect stranger that sacrifices his freedom and risks his life so that I might be free. I love my submariner. He is the one that I depend on to patrol my shores and to keep my watch. I could not have won WWII without him. He is my best defense against adversaries, and he helps me prepare for war so that I may have peace. He IS my red, white, and blue. He IS my Honor, Courage, and Commitment, and even though I may not always show it, I LOVE MY SUBMARINER! ~By the proud wife of a SSN 708 sailor~ Jennifer Patterson |
