MY FATHER

Mr. Walker:

Loved your site - especially the Trigger posts.  My father sailed on the 564 from January 1954 to January 1956 as a Chief Electrician's Mate.  He subsequently went the "Nuc" route and ended up as COB for the USS Sculpin before he retired in 1962. Unfortunately, dad passed away in 1988.

Believe it or not, I spent one night on board as a young boy when dad had the duty.  It was in New London, tied up to a tender - USS Fulton.  It was a long time ago but I distinctly remember watching movies, eating cherry pie and banging my shins on the hatches.

I wish there was a way I could contact some of the crew who might have known my father and maybe get hold of some pics, stories or recollections.  Any suggestions?

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and thank you for preserving the memory of what I think is a significant piece of American history.

Hope you appreciate the attachment - it was a postcard that's been beat up over the years.

Regards, Robert M. Perez, Jr.
