| I took some
photos of the restored sail of the Balao SS-258 today. Ironically, I
arrived just hours before the crane showed up to load it on a flat bed for
transit to the shipyard in D.C. I picked up two small pieces of the
original teak deck planks. The contractor picked up the sail in May
of 2002. They used over 6000 new rivets. The sail is now at the Washington
Navy Yard.
