This is a photo of the austere memorial rock and plaque, located outside the Submarine Headquarters on the Peruvian Naval Base in Callao, Peru |
| The inscription reads: "In honor of the crew of the Peruvian Naval
Vessel (BAP) PACOCHA, who died in the line of duty. Date: 26 August 1988,
Place: LAT 12º01.6´ S, and LON. 77° 13.0´W" It lists the fallen crewmen. Notice that one, Petty Officer Alberto Reyes Vilca, died in July 1991 of injuries related to the accident. (See close-up of Plaque) |
